Monika Polanska from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven represented Mr. Thibaut Portevin, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, in delivering congratulations to Indonesian universities selected for the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) program. Although unable to attend in person, Mr. Portevin expressed pride and appreciation for the universities’ success in passing the highly competitive selection process. His message was conveyed by Ms. Polanska at the International Symposium on Food and Agrobiodiversity (ISFA) 2024, an event supported by UNDIP’s World Class University (WCU) program and FPP UNDIP, held at Oak Tree Hotel, Semarang, on October 2.

In the speech, Ms. Polanska highlighted that out of 972 applications received by the EU headquarters, UNDIP successfully passed the selection process with its project, “Enhancing Higher Education Capacity for Sustainable Data-Driven Food Systems in Indonesia” (FIND4S).

Coordinated by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, the project involves collaboration among 11 universities to modernize food science curricula and develop sustainable food systems in Indonesia, particularly in Central Java. Ms. Polanska also conveyed hopes that the FIND4S project would lead to productive discussions and meaningful collaborations. The EU Delegation will continue monitoring the project’s progress and outcomes as part of its commitment to supporting higher education capacity-building in Indonesia.

Through this initiative, academic collaboration between European and Indonesian universities is expected to grow, particularly in the field of sustainable food science.
