Nafisah Zainuba Hasan, Universitas Diponegoro Delegation at ASEAN STUDENT MOBILITY

Universitas Diponegoro was proud to be part of the ASEAN STUDENT MOBILITY in conjunction with ASEAN UNIVERSITIES EXHIBITION and FORUM 2025, a dynamic and inspiring event bringing together students across the region. Held in a hybrid format, the program ran online from February 11 – 17, 2025, followed by an on-site experience from February 18 – 25, 2025, in Sintok, Kedah, culminating in the ASEAN Universities Exhibition and Forum (AEF) 2025 at Sunway Resort Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

This initiative provided students with an incredible opportunity to experience cross-cultural learning, develop leadership skills, and collaborate on innovative projects that tackle pressing regional issues. It featured various exciting competitions and events, including the Young Speaker Contest, ASEAN Future Innovation, and SDGs Group Presentation.

Aligned with the principle and commitment of Universitas Diponegoro, through the funding of the Student Go International World Class University (WCU) program, the best delegates from Universitas Diponegoro are sent to this program. One of the university’s proud representatives, Nafisah Zainuba Hasan, a Food Technology student from the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, participated in the Young Speaker Contest. While she didn’t secure the winner position, she made an impressive mark by earning First Runner Up SDGs Project. Her presentation, held on February 23, 2025, in Alor Setar, was built around street photography she captured herself and her team, just a day before the presentation.

Reflecting on her experience, Nafisah shared, “Through these photographs, my team and I wanted to tell real stories about SDG Goal 10: Reducing Inequality. We highlighted issues related to gender, the age-based hierarchy of knowledge, and social class disparities that we observed first hand.” Her work showcased the power of visual storytelling in raising awareness and sparking meaningful discussions about social justice.

Aside from the competitions, the event also marked the launch of ASEAN GEMS, a groundbreaking digital platform designed to help students explore scholarship opportunities across ASEAN member states. This platform is set to become a go-to hub for students looking to broaden their academic horizons beyond their home countries.

Commenting on the significance of this event, Yoga Pratama, PhD, Head of the International Office at Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Universitas Diponegoro, stated, “This program truly strengthens educational collaboration across ASEAN. Its not only connects students but also empowers them to take an active role in addressing regional challenges. Experiences like this will shape the future leaders of our community.”

The ASEAN STUDENT MOBILITY and AEF 2025 stand as a testament to ASEAN’s commitment to regional integration, youth empowerment, and educational equity. Through events like these, students gain valuable international exposure, build networks, and develop skills that will help them thrive in an increasingly globalized world.
