Semarang, July 7, 2025 – Department of Animal Science, Universitas Diponegoro has officially launched its annual international academic program, the Summer Course 2025, themed “Orientation to Diverse Fields in Animal Science in Indonesia.” The program runs from July 7 to August 10, 2025, and opened with a hybrid event held at the RSG Building F, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences (FAAS) UNDIP, and simultaneously via Zoom Meeting.
The opening ceremony was attended by key university leaders, including Prof. Hadiyanto, Director of Reputation, Partnership, and Global Connectivity, and Prof. Agus Setiadi, Vice Dean for Resource Management at the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences. Both emphasized the significance of this program as a platform for global academic exchange and collaboration in the field of animal science.
“This program not only enhances your understanding of animal science but also inspires collaborative research, joint publications, and long-lasting academic partnerships,” stated Prof. Hadiyanto.
Approximately 80 participants joined the opening session via Zoom, representing a diverse range of countries including Indonesia, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Egypt, Hungary, Myanmar, China, Kazakhstan, Eritrea, and India. The international participation reflects UNDIP’s strong commitment to fostering academic internationalization and building global networks.
Adding cultural and contextual depth to the opening session, Asep Setiaji, Ph.D. delivered a presentation introducing Indonesia’s rich cultural background and its unique native livestock breeds, aligning with the course’s goal to connect scientific knowledge with local wisdom.
The session was further enriched by a traditional Javanese dance performance, “Gambang Semarang,” offering participants a glimpse into Indonesia’s vibrant cultural heritage and strengthening the intercultural spirit of the program.
Throughout the next four weeks, participants will engage with renowned speakers and experts from various countries such as Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Australia, covering a broad spectrum of topics including Animal Biotechnology, Animal Genetics, Animal Reproduction, Veterinary Science, and Metabolomics.
Importantly, this summer course is also part of UNDIP’s World Class University (WCU) initiatives, aiming to strengthen the university’s global presence through academic excellence, international collaboration, and cross-cultural scientific engagement. By inviting international scholars and participants, the program exemplifies UNDIP’s mission to be a globally connected, research-driven institution.
The 2025 Summer Course serves not only as a medium for knowledge-sharing but also as a catalyst for future collaborative projects, fostering mutual understanding and innovation in the field of animal science.
