Initiating Academic Partnership Between UNDIP and Chulalongkorn University

The Department of Food Technology, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University (UNDIP), has formally initiated an academic partnership with the Department of Food Technology, Chulalongkorn University. This agreement was established on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Maha Vajirunhis Building, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.
The collaboration, carried out under the framework of “International Collaboration with TOP 200 QS WUR Universities”, reflects UNDIP’s commitment to expanding global engagement and academic excellence. The meeting began with a focused discussion to identify potential and strategic forms of collaboration between the two institutions. Among the topics discussed were joint classes, guest lectures, visiting professor programs, student and staff exchange for academic activities, and internship programs for undergraduate students. Both parties welcomed the initiative warmly and expressed strong optimism regarding the future collaboration.
The discussion involved several key representatives from the Department of Food Technology at Chulalongkorn University, including Dr. Sumate Keratimanoch (International Affairs), Dr. Tanathep Leungtongkum, and Dr. Nonthacha Thanathornvarakul. The dialogue highlighted how the department has embedded international dimensions into its academic atmosphere and expressed high enthusiasm in strengthening global partnerships. Dr. Sumate stated, “We are very excited and committed to establishing collaboration with Food Technology UNDIP, because we truly believe that international cooperation like this must be continuously encouraged.”
Ulil Afidah, S.Pt., M.Sc., from the Department of Food Technology UNDIP, also expressed appreciation and hope, noting that the collaboration is a milestone in UNDIP’s internationalization efforts. “We are very pleased to agree on this partnership with Chulalongkorn University’s Food Technology department. It is a breakthrough for our academic atmosphere, and we hope it will bring forward new opportunities and progress for our students,” she stated.
The visit not only focused on administrative collaboration but also opened opportunities for joint research, student internships within research labs at Chulalongkorn, and upcoming reciprocal visits from Chulalongkorn faculty members to UNDIP. This aligns with UNDIP’s broader goal of developing strategic international academic ecosystems and providing global exposure to both students and academic staff.
Ahmad Ni’matullah Al-Baarri, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences UNDIP, emphasized UNDIP’s full support for this initiative. “This partnership reflects UNDIP’s vision to progress through collaboration. We highly support this effort and believe it will offer long-term academic benefits, strengthen research collaboration, and elevate the global competencies of our students and faculty,” he said.
This academic visit marks an important step in UNDIP’s ongoing efforts to build sustainable and impactful global partnerships. The university looks forward to implementing the agreed programs and nurturing strong academic synergies with Chulalongkorn University in the years ahead.
