The Master of Animal Science study program, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Diponegoro University has held an online Entrepreneurship Lecture with the theme “From Research to Business” on July 20, 2022. This year’s Entrepreneurship Lecture invited Dr. Ir. Sumardi, M.Sc. who is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Soegijapranata Unika, Semarang, and at the same time the CEO of PT. Indoherb Medical Science. With the title of the lecture “Commercializing Scientific Work”, Dr. Sumardi besides delivering lecture material, he also had exciting discussions with master and doctoral students at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Diponegoro University.

Dr. Sumardi, who is also an alumnus of the Doctoral Study Program in Animal Science, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Diponegoro University, started his lectures by telling about the beginning of his business by working on the “fight” of goats in between his profession as a lecturer and studying Biochemistry with Bante Suddhamo (at Lasem, Rembang, Central Java). From this learning process with Bante Suddhamo, Dr. Sumardi was finally able to produce herbal products which were commercialized to farmers. The process of developing herbal products does not stop there, Dr. Sumardi also conducted in-depth and comprehensive research on the use of herbal products as additives and supplements for livestock health and growth during his doctoral education at the Doctoral Study Program of Animal Science, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Diponegoro University.

There is no “instant” word to achieve success in the business sector, said Dr. Sumardi at an entrepreneurship lecture for postgraduate students at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Diponegoro University. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Sumardi asked postgraduate students to conduct research that can answer the needs of the Indonesian livestock community, so that research products can be applied and commercialized.
